Artist Statement

Kat was born and raised in Monument Colorado.  After studying Art History at the University of Colorado at Boulder she received her Masters in Art Museum and Gallery Studies from the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne in England.  It wasn’t until 2008, shortly before she left England and got married, that Kat was introduced to Fused Glass as a viable artistic means.

Since returning to Colorado in 2008, Kat has been fortunate enough to take a few random classes in glassworking, including, glassblowing, lampworking, and screen printing on glass. She now has a home studio in her garage where she is able to play and work with glass whenever time allows.

The glass itself, it’s color and rhythm, influence the final shape and size of her fused pieces.  Screenprinting on glass, using glass powder to create images, highly captured Kat’s imagination and it allows her to bring her love of animals and nature into her artwork.  Whether functional or decorative, Kat tries to create pieces that showcase the beauty of the glass.

Kat lives in Parker, CO with her husband, two fur babies, and her beautiful baby boy, born in the summer of 2018
